The English Beat était un groupe de ska britannique formé à Birmingham en 1978. Le groupe a connu un succès international dans les années 1980 avec des chansons comme "Mirror in the Bathroom", "Save It for Later" et "Can't Get Used to Losing You". Leur musique, caractérisée par des rythmes énergiques et des paroles ironiques et sociales, a contribué à relancer la popularité du ska dans le monde. Après une série de succès, le groupe s'est séparé en 1983 puis s'est reformé à plusieurs reprises au cours des années suivantes. Parmi leurs albums les plus importants figurent "I Just Can't Stop It" (1980) et "Wha'ppen?" (1981). The English Beat a laissé une empreinte importante dans l'histoire de la musique, influençant des générations d'artistes ska et pop.

J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
