Albert Johnson, mieux connu sous le nom de Prodigy, était un rappeur américain et membre fondateur du duo de hip-hop Mobb Deep. Né à Queens, New York, en 1977, Prodigy a commencé sa carrière musicale à l'âge de 12 ans. En 1993, avec son ami d'enfance Havoc, il a formé Mobb Deep, avec qui il a sorti certains des albums les plus influents de l'histoire du hip-hop underground. Leur album de début, *Juvenile Hell*, a été un succès critique et commercial, suivi par d'autres albums comme *The Infamous* (1995) et *H.N.I.C.* (2000). Prodigy était connu pour ses rimes complexes, son flow de conscience et sa capacité à raconter des histoires réalistes et crudes de la vie dans les rues de Queens. Outre le travail avec Mobb Deep, Prodigy a collaboré avec des artistes comme Nas, Jay-Z et The Alchemist. Il a également sorti des albums solo, dont *H.N.I.C. 2* (2000) et *The Bumpy Ride* (2013). Prodigy est décédé en 2017 à l'âge de 42 ans suite à un problème cardiaque. Son héritage en tant que l'un des rappeurs les plus influents des années 90 reste vivant.
