Hawkwind est un groupe britannique considéré comme l'un des pionniers du space-rock. Actif depuis 1969, le groupe est connu pour sa musique psychédélique et expérimentale, souvent caractérisée par des thèmes de science-fiction, dystopies et voyages intergalactiques. Leur chanson la plus célèbre est «Silver Machine», publiée en 1972. Hawkwind a collaboré avec plusieurs auteurs de science-fiction, dont Michael Moorcock, et s'est toujours distingué par son originalité et son rejet des conventions musicales. Parmi les autres chansons représentatives, on peut citer «Motorhead», «Kings of Space» et «Psi-Power». Le groupe a également participé à des événements spéciaux comme des concerts nocturnes pendant le solstice de Stonehenge, démontrant sa dévotion au mysticisme et à la spiritualité.
