Roland Orzabal (nato Roland Jaime Orzabal de la Quintana) è un cantautore e chitarrista britannico, noto soprattutto per essere il principale autore ed interprete delle canzoni dei Tears for Fears, band da lui stesso fondata nel 1981 assieme al bassista e cantante Curt Smith. Nato a Basildon, Essex, Orzabal ha iniziato la sua carriera musicale negli anni '70 con diverse band locali prima di formare i Tears for Fears. La band ha raggiunto il successo internazionale negli anni '80 con album come *The Hurting* (1983) e *Songs from the Big Chair* (1985), che hanno prodotto successi planetari come «Shout», «Everybody Wants to Rule the World» e «Mad World». Dopo la prima separazione dei Tears for Fears nel 1991, Orzabal ha intrapreso una carriera solista con alcuni album di successo. Nel 2000 i Tears for Fears si sono riuniti per un tour mondiale e hanno continuato a registrare e esibirsi fino ad oggi. Orzabal è noto per le sue melodie orecchiabili, testi introspettivi e la sua abilità nel mescolare elementi di synth-pop, rock progressivo e new wave.
