Les Black Eyed Peas (BEP) sont un groupe de hip-hop américain formé en 1995 à Los Angeles, Californie. La formation originale comprenait apl.de.ap, will.i.am et taboo, ainsi que la chanteuse Kim Hill. Leur premier album, *Behind the Front* (1998), a reçu des critiques positives mais n'a pas connu un grand succès commercial. En 2000, leur deuxième album, *Bridging The Gap*, est sorti, avec des collaborations d'artistes tels que Chali 2na de Jurassic 5, De La Soul et Macy Gray. En 2003, Kim Hill a été remplacée par Fergie et l'album *Elephunk* a marqué un tournant pour le groupe. J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
