Edwin Starr, né Charles Edwin Hatcher (1940-2003), était un chanteur et musicien américain de soul influent. Né à Nashville, Tennessee, Starr a commencé sa carrière musicale dans les années 1960 en tant que membre du groupe The Falcons. En 1965, il a signé avec Ric-Tic Records et a connu son premier succès avec le morceau "Agent Double O Soul". En 1970, il a atteint le sommet de sa popularité avec le single "War", un puissant hymne contre la guerre du Vietnam qui est devenu un classique mondial.
