Patti Austin est une chanteuse américaine de pop, jazz et R and B, née à New York en 1954. Fille du musicien Floyd Austin, Patti a commencé sa carrière musicale à l'âge de sept ans en chantant dans un chœur gospel. Tout au long des années 1970, elle a collaboré avec des artistes comme Stevie Wonder et Michael Jackson, contribuant à la réalisation de certains de leurs albums les plus célèbres. En 1981, elle a connu le succès international avec la chanson "Baby, Come to Me", interprétée en duo avec James Ingram et produite par Quincy Jones. La chanson a atteint la première place des classements américains et lui a valu un Grammy Award en 2008, après neuf nominations. Outre ce grand succès, Patti Austin a publié de nombreux albums de grande qualité, démontrant sa polyvalence artistique et son talent vocal. Parmi ses chansons les plus représentatives, on peut citer "You're My Everything", "The Way You Make Me Feel" et "It's Time for Love".

J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
