Gabe Dixon Band est un groupe de trois musiciens formé à l'automne 1998 à l'Université de Miami. Leur musique est un rock piano-driven avec des influences d'artistes comme Ben Folds Five, Jackson Browne et Elton John des années 70. Le groupe a travaillé avec le producteur / ingénieur Eddie Kramer sur leur album de début indépendant, *More Than It Would Seem*, en 1999. Après l'obtention de leur diplôme, le groupe s'est installé à New York City et a été signé par Reprise Records par David Kahne. Après que Gabe Dixon ait refusé poliment le poste de claviériste lors de la tournée mondiale de Paul McCartney pour se concentrer sur la production du premier album du groupe pour un label majeur, *On A Rolling Ball* est sorti en 2002.

J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
