The Mission, noti come The Mission UK negli Stati Uniti, sono stati una band di gothic rock formatasi nel 1986 dalle ceneri della band rock appena sciolta The Sisters of Mercy. La formazione originale comprendeva Wayne Hussey (voce), Simon Hinkler (chitarra), Craig Adams (basso) e Mick Brown (batteria). Il loro sound, caratterizzato da melodie dark e atmosfere cupe, ha rapidamente conquistato un seguito fedele nel panorama musicale goth. Tra i brani più rappresentativi si ricordano "Wasteland", "Severed Ties" e "Tower of Strength". Dopo una serie di album di successo, tra cui il debutto omonimo (1986) e "God's Own Medicine" (1989), la band ha attraversato periodi di pausa e cambiamenti nella formazione.
