Mae est un groupe de rock américain formé à Norfolk, Virginie en 2001. Le nom du groupe est un acronyme de « Multi-sensory Aesthetic Experience », inspiré d'un cours suivi par le batteur Jacob Marshall alors qu'il était étudiant à l'Université Old Dominion. Le son de Mae se caractérise par une fusion d'éléments de rock indépendant, d'emo et de post-rock, avec des influences progressives et expérimentales. Parmi leurs chansons les plus représentatives figurent « The Reason », « Gravity » et « Falling Away ». Leur album de début, « Destination: Beautiful », est sorti en 2003 et a connu un succès modéré auprès des fans de musique indie. Au fil des ans, Mae a collaboré avec des artistes tels que The Used et Taking Back Sunday.
