Gerald Levert (Cleveland, Ohio, 27 janvier 1966 – 10 novembre 2006) était un chanteur et musicien américain du genre R and B. Fils du célèbre chanteur des O'Jays Eddie Levert, il a formé le groupe LeVert avec son frère Sean et leur ami Marc Gordon au milieu des années 1980. Le groupe a connu quatre albums de platine et plusieurs singles à succès, notamment "(Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop) Goes My Mind", "Casanova", "Addicted to You", "Just Coolin'", "Baby I'm Ready" et "Private Line", tous en tête des classements R and B entre 1986 et 1991. J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
