Statik Selektah, de son vrai nom Patrick Baril, est un DJ, producteur de disques et animateur radio américain né à New York en 1980. Considéré comme l'un des piliers de la scène hip-hop underground américaine, Statik Selektah se distingue par son style de production caractérisé par des échantillons vintage et des rythmes old-school avec des influences jazz et funk. Sa carrière musicale a débuté dans les années 1990 en tant que DJ dans des clubs de New York, collaborant avec des artistes émergents du paysage hip-hop. En 2003, il a sorti son premier album, "The Green Tape", qui lui a valu une réputation de producteur talentueux et créatif. Depuis lors, Statik Selektah a travaillé avec certains des plus grands noms du hip-hop, notamment Action Bronson, Joey Bada$$, Sean Price et Freddie Gibbs. Parmi ses albums les plus notables figurent "The Best of Both Worlds" (2013) et "What Goes Around" (2017). Statik Selektah est également connu pour son émission de radio "The Statik Selektah Show", diffusée sur SiriusXM, où il présente de la musique hip-hop et interviewe des artistes émergents. J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
