Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings sont un groupe américain de funk et soul originaire de Brooklyn, formé en 1996. Le groupe est dirigé par la puissante voix de Sharon Jones, une chanteuse qui a travaillé comme policière et agente d'appels avant de se consacrer à la musique. Leur son est fortement influencé par le funk et le soul des années 1960 et 1970, avec des arrangements complexes et une énergie contagieuse. leur premier album, *Dap Dippin'*, est sorti en 1996, suivi d'une série de succès tels que *Naturally* (2007) et *I Learned the Hard Way* (2010). Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings ont collaboré avec des artistes comme Amy Winehouse et Charles Bradley, contribuant au regain d'intérêt pour le funk et le soul vintage. J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
