Hot Hot Heat est un groupe canadien de rock alternatif formé en 1999. À l'origine avec un son synth-pop, ils ont incorporé des influences new wave et post-punk au cours de leur carrière. Leur album de début, *Make Up The Breakdown* (2002), sorti après avoir signé chez Sub Pop, a été acclamé par la critique. En 2005, ils sont passés à Warner Bros., mais leur album d'entrée dans le grand label, *Elevator* (2005), a reçu des critiques mitigées et de faibles ventes. Leur troisième album studio, *Happiness Ltd.* (2007), a continué à recevoir des critiques mitigées. J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
