Les Violent Femmes sont un groupe américain de rock alternatif/punk country formé à Milwaukee, Wisconsin, en 1980. Composés de Gordon Gano (chant, guitare), Brian Ritchie (basse, percussions) et Victor DeLorenzo (batterie), ils ont atteint la renommée internationale grâce à leur son unique qui fusionne des éléments de folk, blues et rockabilly. Leur album éponyme de 1983 est devenu un succès underground, grâce à des morceaux comme "Blister in the Sun" et "Add It Up". Les Violent Femmes sont connus pour leurs performances live énergiques et le style vocal distinctif de Gano ainsi que ses chansons souvent introspectives. Parmi leurs albums les plus importants figurent également "Hallowed Ground" (1985) et "The Blind Leading the Naked" (1989). Malgré plusieurs changements de formation au cours des années, le groupe continue d'enregistrer et de se produire avec succès, conservant une base de fans fidèle à travers le monde.

J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
