The Paper Kites sont un groupe musical australien d'indie rock et folk originaire de Melbourne. Fondé en 2010, le groupe est composé de Sam Bentley (chant, guitare), Christina Lacy (violon, chœurs), Dave Powys (guitare, claviers), Josh Bentley (basse) et Sam Rasmussen (batterie). Leur musique se caractérise par des mélodies délicates, des arrangements orchestrales et des paroles introspectives qui explorent des thèmes d'amour, de perte et de nostalgie. Parmi les chansons les plus connues du groupe figurent "Bloom", "Featherstone" et "St John's Wort". Leur album de début, "States", sorti en 2012, a connu un grand succès critique et a contribué à les établir comme l'une des formations indie rock les plus prometteuses d'Australie. J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
