Gordon Meredith Lightfoot, Jr. (1938-2023) était un auteur-compositeur-interprète canadien considéré comme l'un des piliers de la musique folk et country de son pays. Né à Orillia, en Ontario, Lightfoot a commencé sa carrière musicale dans les années 1960, se forgeant rapidement une réputation pour ses mélodies évocatrices et ses paroles poétiques qui exploraient souvent des thèmes d'histoire, de nature et de vie quotidienne canadienne. Parmi ses chansons les plus célèbres figurent "If You Could Read My Mind", "Sundown" et "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald".
