Kool Keith, de son vrai nom Keith Matthew Thornton, est un rappeur et producteur de disques américain né à New York en 1964. Considéré comme l'un des pionniers du hip hop expérimental, Kool Keith se distingue par son style de rap excentrique, caractérisé par des rimes complexes, un flow innovant et des paroles surréalistes qui vont de la science-fiction à l'horreur. Il a commencé sa carrière dans les années 1980 avec le groupe Ultramagnetic MCs, contribuant à définir l'esthétique du jazz rap. Après avoir quitté le groupe, il a lancé une carrière solo prolifique, publiant des albums comme "Sex Style" (1996), "Dr. Octagon" (1996) et "Black Elvis/Lost in Space" (2003). Kool Keith est connu pour ses collaborations avec des artistes comme DJ Premier, Dan the Automator et MF DOOM. Parmi ses morceaux les plus représentatifs figurent "The Bomb", "Space Is The Place" et "Dr. Octagon's Theme".

J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
